Muscat: According to the latest data released by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), the total credit balance extended by Omani banks climbed by 9% to reach RO 33.6 billion as of April 2025. This growth was primarily driven by credit to the private sector, which rose by 7% to touch RO 27.8 billion.
Breaking down the distribution, the non-financial corporate sector took the lion’s share of credit at 46.6%, followed closely by individuals at 44%. The financial corporate sector accounted for 5.6% while other sectors made up the remaining 3.7%.
In parallel, total deposits in the banking sector also recorded a healthy 9.3% increase, reaching RO 32.8 billion. Private sector deposits alone grew by 7.1%, standing at RO 21.5 billion by the end of April.

Within the private sector, individuals continued to dominate deposit activity, holding the largest share at 50.3%, followed by the non-financial corporate sector at 30.4% and the financial corporate sector at 17%. Other sectors held the remaining 2.3%.
