Muscat – This total comprises 8,640 micro enterprises, 1,421 small enterprises, and 55 medium enterprises.
According to the Authority, 2,405 of these establishments obtained the official Entrepreneurship Card, including 1,777 micro enterprises, 594 small enterprises, and 34 medium enterprises.

Tahir bin Sulaiman Al Naabi, Assistant Director of ASMED’s department in South Al Batinah pointed out that 62 trainees benefited from the Entrepreneur Readiness Program during 2024. He also noted that 30 loans were approved during the year, amounting to a total value of RO 2,480,811.

Al Naabi added that 34 plots of usufruct land were granted to SME owners in the governorate in 2024, with an estimated investment value of RO 860,000. These initiatives aim to support local entrepreneurs and enhance investment opportunities in the region.

The department remains committed to supporting small and medium enterprises by identifying challenges, proposing solutions, and providing recommendations for youth development and training in the governorate. The registered SMEs span various economic sectors, including wholesale and retail trade, vehicle and motorcycle repair, manufacturing, construction, administrative services, real estate, scientific and technical fields, agriculture and fisheries, electricity supply, information and communications, mining, and other sectors.

Al Naabi further noted that two exhibitions were organized by the department last year, attracting more than 139 participants. The department also collaborated with various government bodies, including the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry branch, the Directorate General of Education, and the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Rustaq, to support entrepreneurial events and exhibitions throughout the governorate.
