Muscat: Launched through the Tatweer platform, the investment opportunities span more than 70,000 square meters and mark the beginning of a broader vision to boost tourism and agricultural development in the region. The offerings include diverse projects such as a 3 to 5-star tourist resort (1,400 sqm), a fixed-material tourist camp (20,440 sqm), an adventure center (10,012 sqm), a coffee farm (15,752 sqm), a fruit farm (9,830 sqm), and a sliding game feature.
His Excellency Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, announced that the Jebel Shams Waterfront Project was selected by the main committee of the 2024 governorate competition as a key development initiative. The first phase, which focuses on infrastructure, is already underway following a tender issued in March. A second tender will be launched later this year, covering additional developments including an administrative building, geological exhibition, and an Adventure Academy.
Future plans for phase two include a public square, open-air theater, health walkway, business-friendly remote workspaces, 18 kiosks, a suspension bridge, a café by the cliff, a zip wire, and a multi-purpose hall—each element designed to enhance the visitor experience while blending with the region’s rugged topography.

The overall project spans 145,000 sqm with an estimated total investment of RO 11 million and expected annual returns of over RO 1.26 million. The public facilities will feature modern architecture that complements the natural landscape, including a 500-seat theater and educational spaces aimed at enriching visitors’ skills.
Notably, the 250-meter long-track slide and geological exhibition will offer both thrill and educational value, showcasing the region’s environmental and geological diversity.
His Excellency emphasized that the project aligns with Oman Vision 2040, reinforcing goals such as private sector growth, innovation, human capital development, and stronger public-private partnerships. The initiative also aims to promote local content by engaging local products, raw materials, and services—ultimately boosting SMEs and reducing dependence on imports.
