Muscat – The initiative, spearheaded by the Directorate General of Studies and Development, aims to raise public awareness, reduce complaint rates, and ensure greater legal transparency in commercial transactions across the Sultanate.

The campaign focuses on promoting the use of proper contractual agreements between consumers and providers in accordance with Oman’s Consumer Protection Law, its executive regulations, and related regulatory decisions. By emphasising fairness, transparency, and the proper issuance of invoices and contracts, the initiative seeks to safeguard the rights of all parties involved, minimise legal violations, and elevate commercial practices to higher standards.

The initiative covers all sectors and commercial transactions, and targets both consumers and providers, with the goal of enhancing legal awareness, building trust in market transactions, and improving institutional compliance with consumer rights regulations. Educational activities will include the deployment of awareness teams in markets across Oman to inform the public of their rights during and after commercial dealings, while also identifying common challenges and providing practical solutions.
To reach a broader audience, the Authority will disseminate key messages through traditional media and social media platforms. These efforts are expected to contribute to a reduction in consumer complaints, a more informed public, and a streamlined process for resolving disputes.

Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, the initiative draws on international and regional best practices to build a consumer-friendly environment that supports economic growth. It also aims to reduce financial penalties by ensuring business owners understand and adhere to regulatory requirements.
