Muscat – The data indicated a 6.3 percent increase in prices for miscellaneous goods and services groups, a 3.4 percent increase in transportation, and a 3.2 percent increase in health.
Prices for restaurants and hotels also rose by 0.8 percent, clothing and footwear by 0.5 percent, and culture and entertainment by 0.4 percent. In addition, prices of furniture, household equipment, and maintenance increased by 0.3 percent; food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.1 percent; and education by 0.1 percent. Meanwhile, prices for housing, water, electricity, gas, other fuels, communications, and tobacco remained stable.
In the food and non-alcoholic beverages group, prices of milk, cheese, and eggs rose by 3.3 percent, other food products by 3.3 percent, while sugar, jam, honey, and sweets increased by 3 percent. Prices in the fruit group also rose by 2.1 percent; oils and fats by 1.3 percent, and breads and cereals by 0.7 percent. In contrast, prices of fish and seafood decreased by 5.9 percent, vegetables group by 2.2 percent, and meat by 0.3 percent.

Geographically, the index rose by 1.8 percent in Musandam Governorate by the end of February 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. It also rose by 1.8 percent in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, 1.5 percent in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, and 1.5 percent in Al Wusta Governorate.
The Al Dhahirah Governorate also witnessed an increase of 1.2 percent, 1.1 percent in the Dhofar Governorate, 1 percent in the Al Buraimi Governorate, and 0.9 percent in the Muscat Governorate.
The rate increased by 0.6 percent in the North Al Batinah Governorate and by 0.5 percent in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, while the South Al Batinah registered a marginal increase of 0.1 percent.
