ABU DHABI: The victim came across a promising job advertisement on a popular website offering positions in a reputed programme with attractive salaries. Hoping to land the dream role, she contacted the advertiser and was lured into transferring funds multiple times. The fraudster claimed the money was required for employment processes and investments in a platform associated with the position.

After realizing the man was a con artist, the woman took legal action, filing a lawsuit at the Al Dhafra Court of First Instance. The court ruled in her favour, ordering the defendant to return the Dh78,000 she had transferred and to cover her legal expenses.

In her plea, the woman also demanded a 12 per cent legal interest rate on the amount from the date of the claim. The court found the man guilty of fraud, convicting him for using deceptive means to steal money by falsely presenting himself as a recruitment agent.
