JEDDAH: Heading the Omani delegation, His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, highlighted Oman’s consistent participation in AMR initiatives since the first and second editions of the conference in the Netherlands, culminating in hosting the third edition in Muscat in 2022. That conference underscored the “One Health” approach, emphasizing antibiotic governance across human, animal, and food production sectors.
His Excellency Dr Al Sabti said, “Oman has played an active role in raising the level of prevention and infection control as one of the most important pillars of the global plan to combat antibiotic resistance for the global agenda in 2022, which approved its strategy this year. We also organized a side event during the high-level meeting on antibiotic resistance at the 79th United Nations Summit to discuss the importance of prevention, infection control and monitoring antibiotic consumption.”
The Minister further emphasized Oman’s commitment to combating AMR through national strategies, regional cooperation, and partnerships with international organizations.

Dr. Al Sabti participated as a keynote speaker in a session titled “Governance Mechanism in the Tripartite Presidency System and Holding a Semi-Annual Ministerial Conference,” advocating for the Troika presidency model to ensure sustained global AMR efforts and cooperation among member states.
The two-day conference features over 40 ministers from health, agriculture, and environmental sectors worldwide, alongside leaders of international organizations. Topics under discussion include monitoring, governance, capacity building, and research innovation to address AMR challenges comprehensively.
