CAIRO: His Excellency Ambassador Al Rahbi, Oman’s Permanent Representative to the League, underscored Oman’s categorical rejection of Israeli measures that target the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) efforts, emphasizing the agency’s critical role in alleviating Palestinian suffering amid ongoing hostilities.

The ambassador warned of recent moves by the Israeli Knesset to “legitimize the condemnation of UNRWA,” while highlighting the increasing toll on Palestinian civilians, including children, women, and the elderly. He condemned these actions as part of a “long chain of Israeli violations of international and humanitarian law,” denouncing them as flagrant disrespect for global norms and the United Nations.
The meeting, held at the League’s headquarters, also deliberated on forming a unified Arab response to the Israeli Knesset’s new illegal laws, which restrict UNRWA’s operations in Palestinian territories.
