Muscat: The Family Income Support Benefit is a key initiative under Oman’s social protection system, designed to aid families struggling to meet their financial needs. Eligibility is determined based on family size, income level, and the ability of members to earn. The benefit targets enhancing social stability, closing economic gaps, and providing decent living conditions amidst growing economic challenges.
Malek bin Salem Al Harthy, Director General of Entitlements at the Social Protection Fund, stated that applications will be reviewed within 30 days, in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development. He confirmed that eligible families will begin receiving support from the date of their application, provided all necessary documents are submitted. These include bank statements, custody documents for divorced women with children, and proof of abandonment in the case of separated families.
Al Harthy clarified that the targeted benefit amount starts at RO 115 for a single family member and increases based on family size. He also highlighted that exceptions exist, such as childhood and disability benefits, which will not affect eligibility for family income support.

Additionally, the Fund’s social research teams are assessing applications to ensure accurate distribution, particularly for families caring for the elderly or disabled. The benefit’s ultimate goal is to replace the social security pension, helping to streamline Oman’s social security and retirement systems under unified management, in line with Oman Vision 2040.
Until the end of September 2024, the Fund has disbursed the benefit to over 12,732 families, with North Al Batinah Governorate receiving the most, followed by Muscat.
