Muscat: According to preliminary data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information, these institutions contributed significantly to the country’s GDP, accounting for 81% of the total added value at current prices.
While this figure is slightly lower than the 81.5% recorded in the same quarter of 2023, it demonstrates the continued importance of private enterprises to Oman’s economy.
Large enterprises contributed the most to the added value, accounting for 60.6% of the total. Medium and small enterprises also played a vital role, contributing 6.1% and 6.4%, respectively.

The number of workers in private institutions increased by 0.5% during the second quarter of 2024, reaching 1,781,643.
Additionally, the number of institutions operating in the Sultanate rose by 10.9% to 252,312
