Muscat: According to the latest figures from the National Center for Statistics and Information, the growth marks a significant jump from RO 138.6 million, which was recorded by the same period in 2023.
The surge is attributed mainly to an 8.4 percent rise in hotel guest numbers, with 1,400,735 guests checking in by the end of August, compared to 1,292,509 during the same period last year. The occupancy rate also grew by 2.3 per cent.
Omanis comprised the largest share of guests, with their numbers increasing by 7.5 per cent to 541,035. Gulf visitors saw a modest increase of 0.6 per cent, totalling 140,394 guests, while other Arab guests surged by 13.8 per cent to 69,087.

European travellers contributed notably, with a 16.5 per cent rise to 322,632 visitors. American guests also saw growth, with 38,190 arrivals, up 3.2 per cent. African and Asian guests increased by 3 per cent and 8.3 per cent, respectively, while Oceania was the only region to see a decline, with a 27.2 per cent drop in guest numbers, totalling 19,758.
