Muscat: The aircraft, carrying 140 passengers, was en route from Trichy to Sharjah when the technical issue arose.
The pilot swiftly alerted the air traffic control about the hydraulic failure, prompting the airport authorities to initiate emergency procedures. The plane is currently circling over the city, and a safe landing is expected soon.
As a precautionary measure, the airport has deployed emergency response teams and ambulances to the landing site. The authorities are preparing for a belly landing, which involves landing without the use of landing gear.
While fuel dumping was initially considered to lighten the aircraft, it was deemed unsafe due to the plane’s proximity to residential areas.
The district collector assured that there is no immediate cause for concern and that the flight will land safely.
