Muscat – H.E. Dr Mohammed bin Saeed al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, led the Omani delegation and emphasized the significance of the meeting in fostering brotherhood, harmony, and unity among the GCC nations.

In his speech, he highlighted the necessity of strengthening these ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation that benefit both the member states and their populations.

Dr. Al Maamari addressed the pressing challenges facing the region, including the ongoing conflict in Palestine and the broader geopolitical tensions affecting the world. He underscored the importance of collective efforts to confront these rapid developments.

He urged participants to adopt a wise approach in addressing social and global changes, reinforcing the role of ethical and moral principles in fostering understanding, coexistence, and peace.
He also noted that the initiatives undertaken by national institutions, particularly the Ministries of Endowments and Religious Affairs, are crucial for upholding family values and promoting societal harmony.

Dr. Al Maamari expressed strong disapproval of extremism, stating that it poses a significant threat to both security and development. He called for protective measures against harmful ideologies that misrepresent the true essence of Islam, which he described as a unifying force for goodness and peace.
Highlighting the enduring significance of endowments in charitable and humanitarian work, he stated, “It is our duty to advance this field to meet the evolving needs of our societies.” He proposed the establishment of a World Endowment Day to enhance global awareness of the role that endowments play in social care and development, and to educate the world about the rich history of charitable contributions in Islam.

The meeting also covered a range of important topics, including the exchange of scientific research and best practices among member states, the organization of interactive seminars, the potential establishment of a Gulf scientific observatory, and initiatives to present a true image of Islamic tolerance to the world.
