Muscat: Eng. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Nuaimi, CEO of Operations and Maintenance at Nama Water, emphasized the company’s dedication to environmental sustainability, highlighting the importance of clean energy in the fight against climate change.
The company’s initiatives include operating several stations with renewable energy sources. The Al-Kahl desalination station in the Wilayat of Haima stands out, utilizing cutting-edge technology that integrates solar panels and wind turbines. This facility operates with 90 solar panels and three wind turbines, producing 240 cubic meters of water daily.
Another noteworthy installation is the Qarn Al Alam station in the Wilayat of Adam, which utilizes solar energy to provide 100 cubic meters of water daily to local homes and businesses. The Wadi Al Sijani well in Samayil also employs solar technology, utilizing 40 solar cells to generate 10 kilowatts per hour to power its pump. It serves 80 homes and has a storage capacity of 10,000 gallons.

Additionally, the Qarun desalination plant in Jalan Bani Bu Ali is making waves, generating 250 cubic meters of water daily through renewable energy. Meanwhile, the Hamra Ad-Duru station in Ibri harnesses solar power to produce 39 kilowatts per hour, desalinating approximately 1,000 cubic meters of water daily for local subscribers.
Eng. Al Nuaimi reiterated the company’s focus on accelerating the transition to clean energy, pivotal in Oman’s efforts to combat climate change and meet its net-zero targets by 2050.
