Muscat – His Majesty also directed relevant authorities to allocate RO 72 million within the state’s general budget to finance the family support benefit program, which falls under the benefits of the recently announced Social Protection Fund.
Additionally, the Council of Ministers approved the allocation of an additional amount of RO 40 million within the current five-year plan to accelerate the construction of new schools. This is in light of the increasing student density in some governorates that are witnessing a steady population increase.
The decision to allocate an additional RO 50 million to support job seekers employment programme is part of the Council’s broader strategy to enhance employment opportunities for citizens. The Council will also utilise amounts collected at a rate of 1.2 percent from the value of purchase invoices from the oil and gas sector, as well as from government units and companies affiliated with the Oman Investment Authority. The competent authorities will be tasked with establishing clear procedures and requirements to ensure the sustainability of the employment opportunities generated by these initiatives.
The Council emphasized that addressing employment is one of the nation’s top priorities, noting that the recent government initiatives are expected to significantly contribute to the creation of more job opportunities for Omani citizens.
This comprehensive approach aims to bolster the job market in Oman and provide essential support to families, reinforcing the government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of its citizens.
