Muscat: With construction 75% complete, the port is on track to open fully by the first quarter of 2025, promising significant economic and investment opportunities.

Ahmed bin Ali Al Shehhi, head of the Dibba Fishing Port, confirmed that the project is progressing smoothly, with marine works expected to conclude in the next two months. The port, designed to boost economic diversification, will cater to fishing, tourism, maritime transport, trade services, and maritime security.

Key features of the project include two breakwaters, with the main breakwater stretching 1,550 meters and the secondary one 500 meters. The harbour basin will have a depth of up to 8 meters, and the port will feature floating moorings, a 130-meter beach for small boats, a boat slip, and a ship crane. The development includes facilities such as a fish market, an ice factory, marine workshops, warehouses, commercial stores, and administration buildings.

Significantly, the port will accommodate cruise ships, having received approval from the International Cruise Ship Organization. Currently, the port sees around 4,000 passengers monthly through the National Ferry Company. This capacity is expected to increase, drawing more tourists and enhancing the local economy.

The project, costing RO 40 million, includes a 5,000 square meter area for a tourist hotel, restaurants, and tourist services. It will also provide dedicated sidewalks for different sectors, spaces for commercial establishments, paved internal roads, electricity, lighting, and rainwater drainage systems.

Ahmed bin Ali Al Shehhi emphasized the project’s economic impact, projecting the creation of over a thousand direct and indirect jobs in its first year. Upon completion, Dibba Port will be the second largest multi-use port in Oman and the first to connect Musandam Governorate with North Al Batinah Governorate. The new Dibba-Lima-Khasab Road Project will further increase connectivity, attracting more travellers and tourists.

The port’s development is set to bolster the national economy, invigorate Musandam’s economic activity, and enhance commercial and tourism movements in the state. Al Shehhi encouraged Omani youth and entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities presented by this project.
