Muscat – As per a statement from the CPA, the consumer had filed a complaint against a contracting company for failure to deliver the agreed-upon service to satisfactory standards.
The contract between the consumer and the company involved the construction of four villas and a swimming pool for a total cost of RO 166,356. The consumer made an upfront payment of RO 60,000 with the project expected to be completed by the end of June.
However, the company failed to adhere to the agreed terms, with reports of delays, deviations from the contractual obligations, and additional financial demands.
It was then found that the contracting company had engaged in sub-contracts with workers who were not under its sponsorship, leading to construction errors and discrepancies in quality. Furthermore, the company misrepresented the quality of materials used.
The CPA promptly initiated procedures by summoning the involved parties. Acknowledging the issues raised, the contracting company expressed willingness to rectify the situation and reimburse the consumer for the financial losses incurred.
The CPA urges all suppliers to comply with the relevant laws and regulations to provide consumers with satisfactory products and services while preserving their rights.
