MUSCAT: Following concerns by social media users regarding the price for Electric Vehicles (EV) charging services, Shell Oman has issued a statement on Thursday.
An internal directive from Shell Oman believed to have sent to its staff stated 250 baisas per kilowatt for charging electric cars at its stations.
“As for the mentioned price for EV charging, it is neither true nor implemented, but it was part of a practical pilot phase on testing the operating and technical systems,” Shell Oman said in a statement.

“We would like to inform you that EV charging services have been available for free in Shell Oman service stations ever since they have been installed back in 2022,” Shell Oman said.
“Meanwhile, we are currently assessing the price structure for the company’s EV charging services, which will be made public once it is completed. This will take into account the relevant laws and regulations as well as accessibility for all EV customers and sustainability in a way that will encourage motorists to adopt EVs in the Sultanate,” the statement added.
