MUSCAT: According to a study conducted by travel portal EnjoyTravel, the Sultanate has been ranked the safest country in the world for women to travel alone.
The twenty safest countries from around the world for women traveling alone have been compiled using eight criteria: Crime and safety index, the proportion of women experiencing violence, the number of women murdered, domestic violence legislation, the proportion of women feeling safe on the street at night, attitudes towards violence against for women, public transport and taxi safety, and the Global Gender Gap Report. The maximum points a country could get is 60, and Oman received a perfect score of 60, thus emerging as the safest country in the world for women to travel alone.
