MUSCAT: Oman is studying the feasibility of implementing four day work week and converting weekend holidays to three days instead of two, national daily Oman reported.
The Arabic newspaper quoting a high ranking official at the Ministry of Labour said the proposition of this Public Service Law is currently under study and will be passed to the Shura Council and the State Councils before approval.
Various countries and companies have experimented with the idea, which is gaining traction in many parts of the world. A study showed that reduced four-day work weeks are not only more efficient, but also helped relieve stress and burnout for employees.
