MUSCAT: Oman on Friday declared three days of mourning following the passing of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In a statement issued, Oman News Agency (ONA) quoting the Diwan of Royal Court said three days of official mourning will be observed starting from Friday, May 13 until Sunday, May 15 as a mark of respect. Flags will fly at half mast during the three days. However, the statement did not refer to suspension of work.
“His Majesty the Sultan, issued his Royal orders to declare official mourning and fly the flags at half-mast in the public and private sectors and in the Sultanate of Oman’s Embassies abroad for a period of three days, starting from today Friday, corresponding to 13th of May until Sunday, 15th of May 2022,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik mourned the passing of UAE’s President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa. His Majesty expressed his sincere condolences and sincere sympathy in to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Makthoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
