MUSCAT: For the first time, Vodafone Oman has launched an auction of 493 diamond and gold numbers.
The auction was put up on the Vodafone website, and registration will continue until May 12 for those wishing to participate in the auction, while bidding starts from May 12 and will continue until May 14.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) will distribute the proceeds from the sale of distinguished numbers to charities in the Sultanate of Oman approved by the Ministry of Social Development, as stipulated in the Telecommunications Regulatory Law and its executive regulations.

In order to achieve transparency in allocating telecommunications numbers among users of telecommunications services, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has issued a regulation regulating the allocation of telecommunications numbers, pursuant to TRA Resolution No. (1/2018), according to which diamond and gold numbers are allocated through auction in accordance with the controls stipulated in the aforementioned decision.
The authority has prepared and launched an electronic bidding system on the distinguished numbers in the diamond and gold categories, in coordination with the licensed telecom companies, through their websites.
Therefore, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has called on everyone who has the desire to participate in the bidding, to follow up on the announcements of the telecom companies and the date of the electronic auction on the distinctive numbers (diamond and gold).
