Oman’s marine pier project in Wilayat Shinas completed by 80%

MUSCAT: The construction work of the marine pier project in Wilayat Shinas has been completed upto 80 percent by March 2022.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has said that trial phase of the project is expected to begin in last quarter of 2022.

The project includes the construction of a sea berth for the export of mining materials with a length of 1800 meters, a depth of 8-12 metres, and a capacity of 7 million tons annually directly to the berth site and shipped with marine trailers ships and exported abroad, eliminating the need to use trucks.

This project is the first berth outside the commercial ports in the Sultanate of Oman to support the maritime transport sector and the logistics system in the Sultanate of Oman.

It is the result of an agreement between the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and Qatar Primary Materials Company with an investment value of OMR 50 million.
