MUSCAT : Fostering Aquaculture in students and an unconditional love for nature, Aqua Trove is an intiative of Indian School Muscat to bring more serenity to our school environment. It’s also an endeavor to aware students about the need for conservation and bring them closer to mother nature.

On the 20^th of March, 2022, His Excellency, Amit Narang , the Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman inaugurated the newly added facility at ISM, a fish pond christened “Aqua Trove”.

The occasion was presided by Dr. Sivakumar Manickam , Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman, Mr. Syed Salman, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors, Mrs. Ashwini Sawrikar, Finance Director, esteemed directors of Board of Directors, Ex Chairmans, Mr. Sachin Thoprani , President, Indian School Management Committee, Vice President, Convener and other esteemed member of  Indian School Muscat Management Committee, Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, Principal, Senior Vice Principal Administration, Vice Principals, Assistant Vice Principals, Heads of various Departments, teachers and valued guests graced the occasion. All the distinguished guests and other eminent personalities were enthralled at this historic event.

Students appeared so excited and enthusiastic about this new gift to them and elaborated on what it means to them to have a fish pond in their school. It is principally a laboratory for students to learn about things natural, as it connects them directly with the scope of their curriculum. As for the students, having own little aquatic environment is a prevailing learning resource. Interrelating with fishy friends teaches students lessons about various species and their life cycles, teaches them about the delicate balance existing among our natural resources. It helps the school children to be more heedful of the world around them and teaches them about nature sustainability. They come to learn that fish ponds are wide-ranging mini bionetworks, and get an awareness and respect for water and aqua life.

Mr. Sachin Toprani, President, School Management Committee thanked Mr. Shihabudeen and Mr. Shameer, who with their  technical expertise in the fields supported us wholeheartedly in this initiative

Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, Principal stated that Aquatrove not only adds an ornamental value to ISM’s budding ecosystem but also is striving to build a clan of young innovators who believe in working in sync with nature. This initiative is one of it’s kind and carries paramount importance as it aims to induce in students a greater sense of responsibility towards nature and all things in it.
