MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman will be hosting the two-day World Walking Championships starting from March 4.
The event, organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations in cooperation with the Oman Athletics Federation, will be held around the well-landscaped gardens of the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) in Muscat.
A participation of 1,000 male and female runners from 60 countries will be seen at the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships Muscat 22. It is the first time that the event has been held in the Middle East and Oman is the first Asian country other than China to host it.

The championships were originally scheduled to be held in Minsk, Belarus, but the ongoing travel restrictions due to COVID-19, the event to be rescheduled and moved to Oman.
