MUSCAT: A total of 326 requests for approval of marriages between citizens and foreigners in three months were received by the Ministry of Social Development (MOSD).
The highest number of applications came from the Governorate of North Batinah (97), followed by Muscat Governorate (83), Dhofar Governorate (35), South Batinah (28), Al Dakhiliyah (27), Al Dhahirah (18), North al Sharqiya (12), Al Buraimi (11), South al Sharqiyah (10), Musandam (4) and Al Wusta Governorate (1).
A total of 52 applications were cancelled by the ministry and 115 applications were from single men and whereas 12 applications from single women were received.

The ministry also received 106 applications from divorced men, five were from divorced women and one application was that of a widow.
Those belonging to the age group 20-29 years accounted for 28 requests, 75 requests were from age group 30-39, 107 requests from 40-49 years, 44 requests from age group 50-59, 48 requests from age group 60-69 and 24 applications from those belonging to the age group 70 and above.
