MUSCAT: Deliberately crossing wadis or failing to follow instructions issued by the authorities can lead to losing the compensation, the Capital Market Authority (CMA) warned.
According to the law, deliberately crossing wadi can lead to three months in jail, as well as a fine of OMR 500.
Oman has been battering heavy rainfall in most parts of the country due to cyclone Shaheen, forcing the government to give a two-day public holiday.

In a statement issued on Sunday, CMA urged not risk crossing valleys and to follow the instructions of the Royal Oman Police.
“Unified vehicle insurance policy in comprehensive insurance covers damages resulting from natural disasters, including hail, flooding of valleys, storms and cyclones, but it requires the policy holder to take all reasonable precautions to preserve the vehicle and to not risk crossing valleys and to follow the instructions of the Royal Oman Police. In case of deliberate crossing of valleys and failure to follow instructions, the police may waive the right of the policy holder from compensation if it is proven that the damage to the vehicle resulted from a deliberate act committed by its driver,” CMA added.
Oman has been witnessing heavy rainfall across the country due to the direct effects of cyclone Shaheen that is expected to make landfall on Sunday evening.
