SOHAR: The Royal Oman Police on Thursday arrested a number of people in Sohar for their involvement in blocking roads, seizing transport vehicles, assaulting by-passers and damaging public property.
In a statement issued, ROP said those arrested also damaged shops and initiated “robbery and set fire to them. Necessary legal measures have been taken against them,” ROP added.
Earlier on Wednesday, Oman TV reported that some of the persons who participated in sit-ins gatherings in Sohar assaulted policemen, by-passers and road users. “They blocked roads and vandalized public and private properties in a flagrant violation of the Basic Law of the State,” Oman TV said in the statement.
