MUSCAT: There are no plans to increase the working hours in Oman’s government sector, a top official at Ministry of Labour said.
There were rumours that as part of launching the new Civil Service Law, the Ministry may revise the working hours in the public sector, however, His Excellency Salem Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development said that is not true. “Working hours will remain the same without an increase in the new Civil Service Law and what is being reported is not true,” Al Busaidi confirmed.
He also said the new labour law will create a healthy work environment. “The new labour and civil service laws aim to create a healthy environment that rewards productivity and instill a culture of productive work,” he added.
