MUSCAT: With Oman gearing-up for a mass vaccination drive in June, private sector companies in the country are encouraging their employees to take the Covid-19 vaccine.

As part of this the Ministry of Health has already issued a circular to private sector firms to reserve the COVID-19 vaccines for their employees.

Companies wishing to reserve the vaccines must register their employees including their names, age, and ID card number through online. They must submit the proof of payment made for the vaccine. Payment has to be made via Ministry of Health’s National Bank of Oman account number
1016125105001 that has been allocated to the COVID-19 Pandemic Vaccine Fund.

For private sector companies, MOH has set the price of taking a single dose of Pfizer vaccine at OMR 20 (including the price of serum, solution and needle) and OMR 3 for private hospitals for administering the vaccine. “Every company has to pay OMR 46 for two doses of Pfizer. We are receiving calls from firms enquiring about the details of the vaccines,” said a spokesperson of a leading private hospital in Muscat.

Speaking to The Arabian Stories, a Managing Director of a construction company said: “We are encouraging our staff to get vaccinated and have registered their details. By taking vaccine, people will feel less insecure and will instil confidence too,” he added.

Earlier, Ministry of Health had said it will receive the Pfizer vaccines in June. “Disbursal of the quantities that are booked will start from June after the sultanate receives the doses for the private sector institutions,” MOH stated in the circular.
