Oman–Kazakhstan Committee discusses new investment, air routes, and tech exchange

Senior officials from both nations agreed on expanding trade, enhancing investment channels, and boosting collaboration in technology, logistics, and air connectivity.

MUSCAT : The Omani-Kazakh Joint Committee convened today in Muscat to discuss a broad agenda aimed at advancing strategic cooperation between the two friendly countries. The Omani delegation was led by H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, while the Kazakh side was headed by H.E. Alibek Kuanterun, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the session, both sides explored new opportunities in agriculture, fisheries, water resources, and logistics, identifying these sectors as high-impact areas capable of driving bilateral growth. The discussions also pointed out the importance of enhancing connectivity, with both countries agreeing to examine the possibility of establishing direct air routes to facilitate travel, tourism, and trade.

Technology and innovation emerged as key pillars of the talks, with Oman and Kazakhstan agreeing to exchange knowledge and expertise in information technology and artificial intelligence. The two delegations also highlighted the need to deepen cooperation in the diplomatic and academic sectors, reflecting a shared commitment to long-term institutional collaboration.

The meeting was attended by H.E. Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the Department of Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and Regional Neighborhood at Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Aidarbek Tumatov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Oman; along with senior officials from both sides.
