MUSCAT: The Relief and Shelter department of the Ministry of Social Development (MOSD), has issued a statement regarding the 13 flights that arrived from India on April 24 at Muscat International Airport on the day when the travel ban was imposed.
Hammoud bin Muhammad Al Mandhari, Relief and Shelter Sector Coordinator said 4,926 passengers had arrived on April 24 and they were dealt with the same procedures that were specified by the Supreme Committee. “Regarding what was circulated on social media on April 24, about the arrival of 13 flights coming to Muscat International Airport, there were 4,926 passengers arrived on that date and they were dealt with the same procedures that were specified by the Supreme Committee in terms of procedures for PCR testing, wristbands and institutional quarantine,” the statement added.
In the wake of rising coronavirus cases, the Supreme Committee imposed an indefinite ban on travel from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

According to Al Mandheri, 11,086 passengers are currently under institutional quarantine. “Over 38,000 passengers arrived in Oman have been isolated in institutional quarantine since the rule was made mandatory in February,” he added.
