MUSCAT: The Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah is sufficient to meet the needs of coronavirus (COVID-19) patients but authorities are studying the feasibility of opening a field hospital in Dhofar Governorate following directions from His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik.
Speaking to Oman News Agency on Monday after visiting the Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health said the authorities are preparing a plan based on the directions from His Majesty.
According to the Minister, “the capacity of Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah is sufficient to accommodate Covid 19 patients.”

“The hospital needs support in terms of medical equipment and personnel, and technical teams visited Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah last week and confirmed that there is no need for a field hospital now, but rather the need to support the current hospital with medical personnel, equipment, and equipment as needed.”
“I assure everyone that ventilators are available, and the hospital has not suffered from any shortage of them,” Al Saidi added.
Over the last many weeks, Dhofar has witnessed a surge in coronavirus cases prompting the Supreme Committee to impose a night lockdown from 6pm to 5am.
