MUSCAT : An expatriate in Masirah was arrested and ordered to pay OMR 3,000 for illegally selling
chewing tobacco.

In a statement issued by the Consumer Prosecution Authority (CPA) said the expat was arrested after a tip-off. “Judicial control officers in Masirah were able raided the market after it received information and made the arrest of an expatriate worker selling non-smoked chewing tobacco, which is in violation of Resolution No. (256/2015), which bans the circulation of chewing tobacco.”

The Public Prosecution passed the case to the court. “Masirah Court of First Instance issued the judicial ruling against the violator of the Consumer Protection Law and imposed a conviction and fine estimated at OMR 3,000 along with confiscation of chewing tobacco,” the statement added
