MUSCAT: Oman witnessed a sharp rise in new COVID-19 cases and deaths in the last 72 hours, according to the Ministry of Health data published on Sunday.
Sultanate registered 3,363 cases and 57 deaths in the last three days, taking the total coronavirus cases in the country to 180,031. The total deaths cases touched 1,878.
The Supreme Committee has taken stringent measures including imposing night lockdown in Dhofar Governorate where more cases have been reported. Across all other governorates, the night movement ban begins at 9pm to 4am, while in Dhofar it is from 6pm to 5am.

“These figures are appalling, and of course we think of the suffering that each one of those deaths represents to their families and to their friends. People should adhere to the precautionary measures to ensure not only they stay safe but also their dear ones,” said a senior official at MOH.
