MUSCAT : In the wake of rising coronavirus cases in Oman, the Supreme Committee urged businesses to reduce the number of employees at workplaces and have staff work from home to help prevent the spread of the virus.
In a statement issued, the Supreme Committee said private sector companies and establishments should take the example of government offices where staff attendance is only 50%, while the rest of the staff perform their duties via online.
In the last two months, Oman has witnessed a sharp rise in coronavirus cases including deaths.

“In pursuance of the Supreme Committee’s efforts to protect society from this pandemic and the risks it entails and, to stem the spread of the virus in the workplace, the Supreme Committee urges private sector companies and establishments to implement plans that guarantee the accomplishment of tasks through online work and to downsize the number of employees needed to attend at the workplace, taking the example of units of the State’s Administrative Apparatus in this respect,” the statement noted.
