MUSCAT: Starting from April 8, the Sultanate will limit entry to the country for only Omani citizens and expat resident visa holders, the Supreme Committee announced on Monday.

In a statement issued, the committee said the decision will come into effect from 12pm on Thursday. The decision was taken ahead of the holy month of Ramadan and to limit the spread of the virus.

The Committee also urged necessity of avoiding “the travel of citizens and residents outside the Sultanate during the coming period unless absolutely necessary, especially with the steps taken by many countries to tighten travel and travel procedures, and the committee also recommends limiting travel outside the Sultanate on official missions and foreign participations,” the statement added.
