MUSCAT: Oman will receive two million doses of COVID-19 vaccine in August, Minister of Health said on Thursday.

Speaking during the annual ceremony of Al Sharqiyah University, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi also said consultations are also in progress to obtain vaccines from Russia. ”Any vaccination or medical preparation that reaches the Sultanate must meet all standards, which are efficiency and safety. We will receive two million doses of vaccines by end of August. I hope they will not break the promise,” he said. However, the Minister did not reveal the name of the vaccine.

Regarding obtaining Sputnik V vaccine, Al Saidi said: “A few days ago, the Russian vaccine was approved because we obtained the data about its effectiveness and safety. We are in contact with the Russian government to get this vaccine.”
