MUSCAT: With the nationwide night lockdown set to begin from today, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has urged citizens and residents to reach home early to avoid traffic congestion.

The night lockdown is between 8pm to 5am until April 8. “We request both citizens and residents to reach home early to avoid last minute rush and traffic congestion,” said Major Mohammed Al Hashmi, Director of Public Relations at ROP.

In the wake of rising coronavirus cases, the Supreme Committee imposed the night lockdown that includes closing all commercial activities and ban on movements of individuals and vehicles. However, air passengers will be permitted to have a companion to drop or pick them from the airport, provided they present the copy of flight ticket. “Passengers must provide their travel tickets as proof while they are traveling from the airport to their homes or vice versa, and they are allowed to have only one companion to drop them off or receive them,” Al Hashmi added.
