MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education is closely coordinating with the Public Prosecution and the Ministry of Finance to recover all the embezzled funds, the country’s Minister informed.
Her Excellency Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed bin Nasser Al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education was referring to the embezzlement case attributed to some employees of the Ministry who were referred to the concerned court. “Strict penalties were issued against the offenders and efforts are underway by the Public Prosecution and the Ministry of Finance to retrieve all the embezzled funds,” the Minister informed the Majlis Al Shura on Sunday.
The Minister also revealed the plans set by the government for the education sector in the country. “First is sources diversification of education financing to ensure sustainability, raising spending efficiency through a partnership with the private sector to establish government school buildings, expansion of pre-school education in Al Wusta Governorate and in oil concession areas in partnership with the private sector. Also important is allocating some lands affiliated to the ministry for private educational Investment in coordination with the Oman Investment Authority,” she added.
