MUSCAT : Salaries takes up a big part of the total education budget, according to Oman’s Minister of Education.
Speaking at the Majlis Al Shura, Her Excellency Dr Madiha bint Ahmed bin Nasser Al Shibaniyah said the government spent 90 percent of the education budget toward salaries of staff. “90% of the ministry’s budget is on salaries and wages, 7% on school transportation, and 3% on other operating expenses,” she said on Sunday.
The Minister said 2,800 new jobs will be created in the tenth five-year plan that will cover the needs of the school. “Our priority is to provide quality education to our children despite the challenges especially during this pandemic,” she added.
