MUSCAT: Oman has suspended entry to the country from 10 countries, including Lebanon and South Africa to help curb the spread of the coronavirus, the Supreme Committee announced.

However, the Committee has exempted diplomats, Omani citizens and medical practitioners and their families.

The temporary ban, effective from Thursday, February 25 for 15 days, includes Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Brazil, Sudan and Guinea.

The decision comes after a rise in coronavirus cases especially with the emergence of mutated strains in many countries. According to the statement, the committee has also banned other nationals coming passing through any of those 10 countries.
