RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended all international flights for citizens and residents for a week, over fears about the fast-spreading new strain of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The ban also applies to entry of passengers to the Kingdom through land and sea ports, the Ministry of Interior said on Sunday evening.

A number of European countries have imposed new travel restrictions and halted flights from and to Britain amid fear of the spread of the new virus strain.

The ministry ordered anyone who has returned from or passed through a European country over the past three months to get tested for COVID-19 immediately.
