Public employee sentenced to 10 years in jail for embezzling more than OMR 1.2 million

MUSCAT: A public employee has been sentenced to 10 years in jail after he was convicted of embezzling OMR 1,204,245, the Public Prosecution said on Sunday.

The Criminal Department at the Court of Appeals ordered the convict to pay a fine equivalent to the amount embezzled.

According to the Public Prosecution, the court also sentenced him to five years in jail and a fine of OMR 50,000 after he was found guilty of money laundering. The court also ordered the dismissal of the employee from the job.
