MUSCAT: There will be no checkpoints within the governorates, while control points will be in place at the entry and exit of all governorate during the nationwide lockdown starting from July 25, The Arabian Stories (TAS) has learnt.
During the previous lockdown in Muscat Governorate, checkpoints in Darsait, Hamriyah and Al Wadi Al Kabir were activated, however, a senior ROP official speaking to TAS, has clarified that no checkpoints will be activated within governorates. “This is a nationwide lockdown therefore the checkpoints will be placed at the entry and exit of the governorates and not within the governorates,” the official said.
Ahead of Eid Al Adha, Oman will impose the nationwide lockdown starting from today (July 25) at 7pm until August 8. As part of the lockdown a total movement ban will be in place everyday from 7pm to 6am. The lockdown has been imposed due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in the country.

However, police patrolling will be strengthened within the governorates especially during the movement ban period, the official informed.
“There will be patrolling within the governorates which includes cities and villages across the country during movement ban period. We request everyone to respect the regulations in place and ensure they stay at home during this time to contain the spread of the virus,” the ROP official added.
