MUSCAT: The nationwide lockdown begins from 7 pm today (July 25) with a complete movement ban until 6 am to contain the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
As part of the lockdown, the Royal Oman Police has called-on everyone to support the government in helping to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases.
According to ROP, checkpoints will be activated at the entry and exit points of all the governorates, while patrolling will be intensified within each governorates during the movement ban from 7 pm to 6 am.

No checkpoints within governorates
ROP has also clarified that there will be no checkpoints within the governorates.
During the previous lockdown in Muscat Governorate, checkpoints in Darsait, Hamriyah and Al Wadi Al Kabir were activated, however, a senior ROP official speaking to The Arabian Stories, has clarified that no checkpoints will be activated within governorates. “This is a nationwide lockdown therefore the checkpoints will be placed at the entry and exit of the governorates and not within the governorates,” the official said.
Let’s unite to fight the virus
The official has also urged people to cooperate during the 15-day lockdown. “No pedestrian or vehicle movements will be allowed from 7 pm until 6 am. This is done for everyone’s well-being. Let’s all be part of this initiative to control the virus,” he added.
Several shopping malls and supermarkets in the country have revised their timings so that all shops can be closed before the lockdown time begins.
Oman on Saturday confirmed 1067 new coronavirus case as the total tally is nearing 75,000.
