MUSCAT: More than 600 healthcare workers are infected with coronavirus in the country, according to a top Ministry of Health official.

Speaking in an interview with Arabic radio Shabiba FM, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Hosni, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health said most of the infections among the medical staff is due to community transfer.

“The total infections among medical staff have exceeded 600 cases and most of them have been infected due to community transmission,” Al Hosni said.

According to Al Hosni, the primary reason for an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases among Omanis is due to the lack of precautionary measures taken by the families to prevent themselves from getting infected. “We can avoid the infections by following the precautionary measures, and these infections that have increased among the Omanis are caused by the lack of precautionary measures taken by the families,” he added.

Oman on Monday confirmed 1,739 new coronavirus cases of which 1,514 are Omanis.
