MUSCAT: The long-awaited construction of the Pakistan Embassy complex would start next year, the country’s Ambassador informed The Arabian Stories.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, His Excellency K.K. Ahsan Wagan said all necessary permissions have been obtained to start the construction. “I have informed our government that the construction needs to start as soon as possible. We got all the approvals from the concerned Omani authorities. We obtained all the NOCs required and we are now waiting for the approval from the government of Pakistan. Unfortunately, due to the Covid it may get a bit delayed but I am hoping by 2021 we will be able to start with the construction of the project,” he said.

The embassy will be built in the land allotted by the Oman government in 1994. Ever since, the Pakistani community has been calling for a more spacious embassy building.

“There have been a lot of requests from the Pakistani community that they want to see the symbol of love between the two countries through the embassy building. I am sure this will be a reality soon,” he added.
