MUSCAT: Oman is reviewing and re-evaluating the USD 1 billion Mina Al Sultan Qaboos waterfront project that was signed in 2017, the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) informed on Friday.

In a statement issued, OIA said the project that was signed between Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) and UAE-based Damac will be implemented after reviewal. “The project will be reviewed in a manner that does not conflict with the privacy of the port site and the historical and architectural heritage of the surrounding region, and provide tourist activities that are appropriate to the lifestyle of the neighbouring community. And based on the evaluation of these considerations, the project will be re-introduced.”

Damac was chosen by the government to develop Mina Al Sultan Qaboos into a waterfront mixed-use destination through a joint venture with Omran.
