MUSCAT: As the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has reopened its service centres, officials urged residents in the country to renew their visa and residency card to avoid fines starting from today.
Major Mohammed Al Habsi Assistant Director of Visas, at the Directorate General of Passports and Residence has confirmed that fines will be imposed for the delay in visas and residency renewal after July 15. “The ROP service centres are open since July 1 and residence renewals can be done by visiting the service centres as it cannot be done online,” Al Habsi said.
However, expatriates and their family members are not required to visit the service halls as company PROs can help in processing the documents. “The finger prints are stored in the system so the company PRO can come to the service centre and complete the process and get their residence cards renewed,” he added.

ROP service halls were closed for nearly three months following the coronavirus outbreak.
